What fraction of a clockwise revolution does the hour hand of a clock turn through, when it goes from 3 to 9
12 / 14 / 13
Solution: 12
We know that,
A clock is divided into 12 equal parts, so while moving from 3 to 9, it covers 6 parts.
Hence, the fraction of a clockwise revolution that the hour hand of the clock turn is 612=12 revolution or two right angles.
Q.2. If the hour hand of a clock turn through 1k fraction of a clockwise revolution when it goes from 4 to 7, then what is the value of k?
Solution: 4
We know that,
A clock is divided into 12 equal parts, so while moving from 4 to 7, it covers 3 parts.
Hence, the fraction of a clockwise revolution that the hour hand of the clock turn is 312=14 revolution or one right angle. The
denominator of the fraction is 4. Therefore, the value of k is 4.
Q.3. What fraction of a clockwise revolution does the hour hand of a clock turn through, when it goes from 7 to 10
Solution: 14
We know that,
A clock is divided into 12 equal parts, so while moving from 7 to 10, it covers 3 parts.
Hence, the fraction of a clockwise revolution that the hour hand of the clock turn is 312=14 revolution or one right angle. Hence, the required answer is 14.
All shapes are formed using curves or lines. Some of the shapes which we see in our daily life are Corners, edges, planes, open curves and closed curves. These shapes can be organized into line segments, angles, triangles, polygons and circles.
Initially, you will learn about Measuring Line Segments. Later you will learn different methods of comparison such as comparison by observation, comparison by tracing and comparison using a ruler and a divider. After this, you will learn about different angles such as right angle, straight angle, complete angle, acute angle, obtuse angle and reflex angle. Under this, angles are explained by taking the example of the clock, directions, ladder etc. The next discussion will be regarding the concept of measuring angles and the tools used for measuring angles. You will also learn about the Perpendicular Lines, Triangles, Quadrilaterals, Polygons and Three Dimensional Shapes.
