1. Raw Data:
Numerical observations collected by an observer is called raw data.
2. Frequency and Frequency Distribution:
(i) The number of times an observation occurs in the given data is called the frequency of the observation.
(ii) A way of presenting data that exhibits the values of the variable and corresponding frequencies is called a frequency distribution.
3. Histogram:
Grouped data can be presented using a histogram. The histogram is a type of bar diagram, where the class intervals are shown on the horizontal axis and the heights of the bars show the frequency of the class interval. Also, there is no gap between the bars as there is no gap between the class intervals.
4. Pie Chart:
Data can also be presented using a circle graph or pie chart. A circle graph shows the relationship between a whole and its part.
5. Events in an Experiment:
(i) An outcome of a random experiment is called an elementary event.
(ii) An event obtained by combining two or more elementary events is known as a compound event.
(iii) An event, associated with a random experiment, is said to occur if any one of the elementary events associated with the event is an outcome.
