Exam Summary
CUET is conducted yearly by National Testing Agency (NTA) to enrol students into various programmes offered at different central universities. Students aiming to join undergraduate programmes in central universities must take the CUET as a mandatory test. Students’ class 12 board exam marks will not determine their CUET admission to a college. The admission will be based only on their CUET scores; however, board marks could be the minimum criteria.

CUET Preparation Tips 2024
- Explore the Syllabus
The first step to acing the CUET exam is gaining a clear understanding of the syllabus. Then, you will be able to make a list of the important topics and prioritise accordingly. This can be achieved based on the mark allotted to the questions and sections. Without a proper understanding of the syllabus and pattern, it is almost impossible to identify what to study and what not to.
- Make a Schedule and Stick to it
As CUET is an entrance exam for central universities, it is conducted after the board exams for class 12 are over. Once the focus on board exams is all done, try to spend at least 2 hours every day on CUET preparation. You can also decide to start early and prepare for CUET alongside class 12 board exams too. This will give you ample time to familiarise yourself and prepare for the exam. Create a timetable and stick to it. Avoid losing the momentum of preparation.
- Practice
As much as making a timetable is an important step while preparing for CUET, another vital factor is practice. Regular and consistent practice is the key to acing the exam. Similar to heavyweight lifters who never skip their practice even on no-competition days, you need to make practice and preparations a habit. Only regular practice and review can help you effectively identify your strengths and areas for improvement.
CUCET Detailed Study Plan
CUET is a pan-India entrance exam that is highly competitive. Hence, candidates appearing for the exam need to have a strategy and aim to score well and qualify for the next round. You can use the following methods while preparing for the CUET.
- First and foremost, go through the exam pattern and structure of the test.
- Then, get hold of some of the books for the CUET preparation.
- After gaining conceptual clarity on each section, segregate your areas of strengths and weaknesses and work towards improving the weaknesses by taking help from your teachers or friends.
- After completing the syllabus, take regular mock tests and analyse the performance.
- Solving previous years’ question papers will expose you to the topics and question types to expect in the exam.
- Lastly, staying confident is the key to success in CUET.
Every participating university will begin its CUET counselling process post the release of the CUET Result. The candidates visit the official website of the participating universities regularly to participate in the process as they have to register for the same and select the desired programmes within a limited period. While participating in the in-person counselling, candidates have to carry the required documents for verification. Depending on the choices filled online by the candidates, the CUET admission lists will be released for the allocation of the seats.
