CHSL in SSC CHSL, standing for Combined Higher Secondary Level, is a national-level examination conducted by SSC to select talented aspirants for several posts throughout the country. Aspirants are usually posted into government departments, ministries, and offices for advertised vacancies. The SSC CHSL exam is conducted tier-wise, namely Tier-1, Tier-2, Tier-3, etc.
This year, the SSC CHSL notification came out on May 9, 2023, and the SSC CHSL Tier-1 exam was conducted from August 9 to 17, whereas the SSC CHSL Tier-2 exam will be organised on November 2, 2023. This year, SSC advertised 1,558 vacancies for various posts under SSC MTS recruitment. The exam is being conducted from September 1 to 14, 2023. In addition to passing Paper-1, aspirants must also appear for physical exams, such as the Physical Efficiency Test (PET)/ Physical Standard Test (PST) — both for the Havaldar post. ‘CGL’ in SSC CGL stands for Combined Graduate Level, the most popular SSC exam among others. Posts advertised under this cadre are labelled Group ‘C’ and Group ‘C’. The exam consists of tier-wise exams, such as Tier-1 and Tier-2. Both tiers are computer-based tests (CBTs); however, Tier-II combines Paper-1, Paper-2, and Paper-3.
Paper-1 is mandatory for all aspirants to pass, whereas Paper-2 and Paper-3 are compulsory for aspirants who applied for Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) and Assistant Audit Officer (AAO)/Assistant Accounts Officer (AAO). Having cleared all the rounds, aspiring candidates are called for a Skill Test, a Data Entry Speed Test. Depending on the post applied for, there could also be a Computer Proficiency Test.
SSC GD can be expanded as the Staff Selection Commission General Duty exam. Developed by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), SSC GD is conducted to hire best-fit candidates for General Duty Constable posts para-military forces. Just like any other exam, aspirants willing to be shortlisted for this one must have good preparation, unyielding dedication and unshakable determination.
The SSC exam for the GD Constable post comprises three stages: CBT, PET, and PST, followed by a document verification round. The basic salary of candidates shortlisted for the post under SSC Selection Post is Rs. 5200/- to Rs. 34800/-; however, the grade pay could vary from time to time and also depends on the job advertised.
Although DRDO MTS, which stands for Defense Research and Development Organisation Multi-tasking Staff, is not conducted by SSC, it holds the same significance as any of those SSC exams. That is why bagged this list of top SSC exams 2023-24. DRDO MTS is conducted in two tiers: Tier-1 and Tier-2. The DRDO MTS Tier-1 exam is the first stage that aspirants must qualify to appear for the next one.
After passing the Tier-1 and DRDO MTS Tier-2 exams, aspirants must appear for a document verification round to be shortlisted for the available or applied posts. Both Tier-1 and Tier-2 exams are conducted for 90 minutes each. The qualifying marks for Tier-1 for General candidates are 40%, whereas SC/ST aspirants need only score 35% — i.e., 5% relaxation for reserved category candidates.
