Green Olympiad 2023: Green Olympiad is conducted by TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute) every year for school students annually since 1999. This Olympiad assesses students’ environment quotient and enhances their understanding of issues related to sustainable development. The Olympiad is open to students in classes 4-12 from India and abroad. This exam consists of multiple-choice questions on environment and sustainable development and is associated with the UN Decade of ESD and Global Action Program (GAP).

Every year, the Environment Education and Awareness of TERI conducts the examination for all schools affiliated with recognized boards and educational trusts to evaluate their environmental knowledge. The official application form for Green Olympiad 2023 has not been released yet; however, we will update this article as soon as the form becomes available.

Green Olympiad: Benefits

Green Olympiad is an initiative to educate students about the environment. The examination tests the knowledge of the students about the environment and its concerns. Check below the benefits of participating in the Green Olympiad-

1. Aspirants will receive certificates for their performance in the Olympiad.
2. The students get to know about the environment.
3. Additional advantages, such as internship opportunities may also be given to some of the aspirants.

Green Olympiad: Levels

The officials divide the students of various grades into level. The students from grades 4 to 12 can participate in the Green Olympiad via the below-mentioned levels-

1. Level 1 – Grade 4 and 5
2. Level 2 – Grade 6, 7 and 8
3. Level 3 – Grade 9 and 10
4. Level 4 – Grade 11 and 12

Who can apply for the Green Olympiad?

All the aspirants/schools must fulfil the eligibility requirements to apply for the Green Olympiad. The officials specify the conditions for the reference of the interested students. The officials will reject the application forms of candidates not meeting the eligibility criteria. We have listed below the eligibility conditions for Green Olympiad-

1. Schools affiliated to the recognized board can apply for the Olympiad.
2. The students from grade 4 to 12 are eligible for the Green Olympiad.
3. Students from India or abroad can also apply for the exam.

How to apply for the Green Olympiad?

Eligible aspirants can apply online for the Olympiad. Individuals and schools can register for the Olympiad. The students must check the schedule of the Olympiad available at the official website of TERI for the application process. Check below the steps to apply for Green Olympiad-

1st Step: Registration

Aspirants need to provide a level, name, standard, name of the school, address, etc. to register for the Olympiad.

2nd Step: Payment

On completion of the registration, the students will be directed to the payment gateway. The applicant needs to pay a registration fee of INR 75 via any of the online payment modes.

Schools need to pay a non-refundable registration fee of INR 75 with a deduction of INR 5 per student.

3rd Step: Receipt

Candidates will receive a receipt at the registered mail id on the successful transaction of the payment.

Green Olympiad: Exam Details

The officials define the necessary details of the examination such as duration, types of questions, marks etc. to give an overview to the applicant. Aspirants can refer to the exam pattern below to prepare for the Olympiad.

1. The Olympiad will include a total of 50 questions.
2. All the questions in the exam will be objective.
3. Aspirants will get a total of one hour to attempt the question paper.
4. Students can appear for the Olympiad through laptops, mobile, personal computers.
5. No deduction of marks will be done for wrong answers.
6. The test will be in the English language.

4. Schools/students need to select a convenient date for examination during the application process.
5. The dates once selected for the examination cannot be changed.
6. Aspirants fulfilling the eligibility criteria can only submit the entry for the Green Olympiad.
7. The officials will mail the certificates to the students.
8. The fees once paid for the registration cannot be refunded.
9. Aspirants need to apply for the Green Olympiad as per the level.
