November 14, 2024CGPA for CBSE: CGPA for CBSE is an important aspect since it is used to calculate the scores of students. CGPA stands for Cumulative Grade Point Average. It is the average of a student’s grade points scored by him/her across a class, excluding extracurricular activities. The CBSE grading system has been created to help students deal with the anxiety of final board exams. Students are evaluated on a five-point system, with “A” being the highest and “E” being the lowest grade.

Many students do not know how to calculate their CGPA, though they might have heard the term several times. Not only Class 10 students, even students in Class 12, ask how to calculate CGPA for CBSE Class 12. It is easy to calculate the CGPA if the students understand the concepts and the formula to calculate the same thoroughly.
Adding the grade points, the total is: 9+8+7+8+8 = 40
It is equally important to know the result in terms of percentage. The method to calculate the percentage from CGPA is given below.
CBSE CGPA percentage calculation is not a difficult task. To convert the CGPA to percentage, multiply it by 9.5. Using the same instance above, if CGPA is 8.0, then the percentile is 8*9.5 = 76%. Just like that, to convert the Percentage to CGPA, students have to divide the overall percentage by 9.5.
Students can calculate CGPA from percentage and vice versa with the help of Grade and Grade Points obtained in the examination. Students just have to multiply the grade points of a subject by 9.5. The table below will help students calculate their CGPA.

The CGPA grading system cannot show the students’ accurate performance. It only represents the grade obtained by students instead of the actual marks of the student. It becomes difficult to assess students having the same grades.
Q.1: What percentage is 9.8 CGPA?
Ans: The percentage obtained by a student with 9.8 CGPA is 93.1%. For students who have scored 9.8 CGPA, their percentage will be calculated as 9.8*9.5 = 93.1%. To convert their CGPA to percentages, they just have to multiply their CGPA by 9.5, and they will get their percentages.
Q.2: What is the percentage of 10 CGPA in CBSE?
Ans: The percentage of 10 CGPA in CBSE Class 10 will be 95% which is obtained by multiplying the CGPA (10 in this case) by 9.5.
Q.3: What are the maximum marks in the 10th CBSE?
Ans: According to the latest CBSE Class 10th marking system, a student can score a maximum of 80 marks in each subject. It is necessary to secure at least 33% of maximum marks in the final 10th board examinations to be considered as passed in a subject. Individual grades and marks will be given for each subject.
Q.4: How to calculate CGPA for CBSE Class 10?
Ans: In order to calculate the CGPA in CBSE Class 10 among the best four or five subjects, students just need to add the grade points for the subjects and divide it by the number of subjects included in the summation. Their CGPA will be calculated successfully. For example, if a student has scored 8, 9, 8, 7 and 8-grade points in five subjects, add these numbers (i.e. 8+9+8+7+8= 40) and divide the obtained sum by the number of subjects (5 in this case), the CGPA will be 40/5 = 8.
Q.5: How to calculate the CBSE percentage from CGPA?
Ans: It is pretty simple to calculate the CBSE Percentage from CGPA obtained in Class 10 Board Examinations. To convert the CGPA to Percentage, students just have to multiply their CGPA by 9.5. As in the above example, the CGPA obtained was 8.0. So, in this case, the overall percentage will be 76%, as shown below; 8.0×9.5 = 76%.
