IBPS Exam Pattern 2025: The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts recruitment for Public Sector Banks in India and Regional Rural Banks (RRB). Understanding the exam pattern is the first and most important step in preparation. Candidates selected through the various IBPS recruitment exams are offered positions such as Probationary Officers (PO)/Management Trainees (MT), Clerical Cadre, Specialist Officers (SO), and RRBs. The IBPS PO Prelims 2025 exam will be conducted on September 23, 30 & October 01, 2025. However, the Mains 2025 exam will be held on November 05, 2025. Scroll down to check the Probationary Officers test pattern for Prelims & Mains exams below.
The IBPS PO preliminary examination will be held online. Candidates will have one hour to complete the preliminary exam. 0.25 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer attempted by a candidate.
To qualify for the Mains exam, applicants must score above the cutoff in all three sections: English Language, Numerical Ability and Reasoning Ability. Check the detailed IBPS PO Prelims Pattern below:

The Prelims, Mains, and Interviews are the selection process for IBPS Specialist Officer posts. As per the calendar, the Prelims exam will be held on December 30, & 31, 2025, whereas the Mains will be conducted on January 28, 2025. Check out the exam pattern from the table below:

The exam pattern for IBPS RRB Officers Scale 1 and Office Assistant is different. The prelims exam is the same for Officers Scale 1 and Office Assistant, with questions based on Reasoning Ability and Numerical Ability.
The Mains exam includes questions from the following categories: Reasoning Ability, Numerical Ability, General Awareness, English/Hindi Language, and Computer Knowledge. Candidates can answer questions in regional languages other than English or Hindi in the IBPS RRB exam. The exam also includes the option for negative marking.
