IBPS will select approximately 2.5 to 4 lakh candidates for IBPS PO Mains Exam. So the competition will be tough. An all round preparation strategy is essential for qualifying this stage of the exam.

This section can prove scoring for a candidate if there is a mastery over basic mathematics and time management. Topics from this section can be mastered with practice. English comes across as easy to a lot of students. However in recent times, this is increasingly becoming the most complex section. In the Prelims this year, English was the most challenging section (for all shifts on all days). A high level of efficiency is expected from aspirants now.
To master this section, here’s what you need to do –
English can be your deciding section. All you have to do is put in a little extra effort.
The reasoning paper proves to be the backbone of the PO exam. This section can be the most scoring. Therefore, needs special attention. To score heavily in this section, the candidates need to focus more on the analytical part of the Reasoning rather than going hard by simulating the shortcuts. Remember the shortcuts won’t be in mind during the exam. Practice hard and practice daily.

This section of the exam is extremely scoring because it is all fact based. Do remember that IBPS expects you to have a good knowledge of the banking sector. Hence this section deals with general awareness but with a special inclination towards the banking sector.
The following list of topics are a ‘Must Know’ to be able to crack this section –
Indian Financial System: Overview of Financial Markets (Capital Market, Money Market, Forex Market, Credit Market), Financial Intermediaries involved (like underwriters,investment bankers, stock exchanges, depositories,registrars, custodians, mutual funds, Authorized dealers, portfolio managers, primary dealers, self-regulatory organizations, etc. Also read important committees and its recommendations.
History of Indian Banking Industry: Candidates need to know Types of Banks (Scheduled, Co-operatives), Pre Independence, Post-Independence, Nationalization, Structure of Indian Banking, categorization of Bank (Pvt, PSU, Foreign), SIDBI, EXIM, NHB, NABARD, IDBI its role etc. and concept of NBFC.
Regulatory Bodies like: RBI, (History/ Roles/ Functions) PFRDA, FSDC, SEBI, IRDA, FMC etc. its role functions and fact based details
Monetary & Credit Policies: It decides the basis of change and its relation with Inflation and other related issues & Inflation (Types) Re-Repo/Bank Rate/CRR/ SLR/ Repo etc.
Budget Basics and Current Union Budget:This is the main topic for the IBPS exam, discussion of Budget, GDP, Government revenue model, Fiscal Deficit, Various kinds of taxes and spending etc. and discussion on Union Budget 2015-16. Candidates must read the Rail Budget and Economic Survey.
International Organizations/ Financial Institutions: The aspirants must know the World Bank, IMF, ADB, UN related agencies, recent development in them members heads etc.
Capital Market & Money Market: Concept, Types of Instruments they deal in like
Market Instruments like equity Shares, preference shares, or Debt segment like Debentures etc also talk about Stock Exchanges in India and world.
Government Schemes: Candidates must keep all the government schemes such as Bharat Nirman, Swabhiman,Swavlamban on the tip of the tongue. All schemes discussed in budget – the details like when was it introduced, important facts related to same, budgetary allocation etc.

Computer Knowledge is the easiest section of the exam and you can score a perfect 20 here (for 20 questions). All you have to do is have a grip over computer basics and a good knowledge of the concepts.
