IIT Fees Per Semester 2022

The number of seats for the UG course is around 12K in various IITs. However, around 2.5 million candidates write the JEE advanced exam to seek admission to IITs every year. As per the official information released by HRD Ministry, the fees-structure of the previous year will also be applicable for the 2022 admission session. There will be no hike in the course fee at IIT colleges. IIT fees per year come to around 2.5 lakhs.

How To Pay IIT College Fees?

The payment procedure for IIT fees is enumerated below for guidance:

  • First, click the academic Fee Payment Portal link on the institute’s official website to pay the fee using any bank Debit Card / Credit Card / Net Banking.
  • Once you enter the roll number and date of birth, verify the name displayed on the screen.
  • Next, check the ‘Fee structure’ PDF fee table and enter the appropriate amount for tuition fees and other fees applicable to the category in which you belong.
  • You will see a message on the screen confirming the successful payment. You can also confirm the payment if you are on campus through the payment history of your IIT account.

Note: If the transaction fails and money is deducted from your account, then please wait for 3 to 5 working days for the money to be credited back to your account. If the money is not credited automatically, contact the institute’s accounts section with your Roll Number, Name, and Transaction ID.

Fees of IIT College: Scholarship and Assistance

The recent fees hike in the premier Indian Institutes of Technology will surely be putting some extra burden on the pockets of the parents of freshly admitted IITians. As mentioned here, the significant changes in the fee structure and the number of reimbursements under various schemes or scholarships might also get revised.

National Talent Search Scholarship: NTS 

Those awarded the NTS scholarship during their 10+2 are further continued with it during their undergraduate education. For renewal of the same, students may kindly submit the forms issued by the NCERT to the Academic Section at the beginning of each academic year.

National Scholarships: All States

These state scholarships are awarded to students from their respective states. The applications for the same are forwarded through IIT. These scholarships are awarded/ renewed every year for which the students have to submit their progress report at the beginning of the academic year.

Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, Central Sector Scholarship for SC Students 

This is awarded to the top 10 students based on their respective JEE ranks, with the condition that their parental income should not exceed Rs 2 lakhs per annum. In it, along with the provision of reimbursement of fees, there is also a provision of:

  • A one-time personal payment compensation of Rs.45,000/-
  • Monthly living expenses of Rs 2,200/- per month, and
  • Books and stationery Rs 3,000/-per annum

Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India: Central Sector Scholarship for ST Students

It is awarded to the top 5 students based on their respective JEE ranks, with the condition that their parental income should not exceed Rs 2 lakhs per annum. In it, along with the provision of reimbursement of fees, there is also a provision of monthly living expenses of Rs 2,200/- per month, and books and stationery Rs 3,000/-per annum.

Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India, Merit-cum-Means Scholarship 

It is awarded to the students belonging to the minority communities such as Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, and Parsis, whose parental income does not exceed Rs 2.5 lakhs per annum. The State Govt will sanction this scholarship amount, and 30% of the scholarships are reserved for girls students. In it, there are provisions of:

  • Maintenance Expenses @ Rs.10,000/- per annum for hostellers, and @ Rs.5,000 for day-scholars.
  • Reimbursement of the course fee by a maximum limit of Rs. 20,000/- or the actual fees, whichever is less.

MHRD Scholarship For a Single Girl Child 

The Government of India norms decides the criterion for the same, and payment of Rs. 40,000/- per year is awarded.

Aditya Birla Scholarship 

The Aditya Birla Group makes the selection for the same among the top 20 students in the JEE Rank. An amount of Rs. 60, 000/- per annum is provided, which is renewable every year subject to norms fixed by the Aditya Birla Group.

Inspire Scholarship (Department of Science and Technology, Government of India) 

Under this scholarship, the students admitted to the Dual Degree (B.S. & M.S) and for 5 years Dual Degree (B.Tech & M.Tech) Programs are eligible to apply for the scholarship amount of Rs.60,000/annum per student.

Q1. Are all IITs in India Government funded institutes?
Ans:
Yes, MHRD has established financially aids IIMs, but they have no say in the administrative decisions and the routine functionality.

Q2. What is the fee structure of B.Tech in CSE at IIT Bombay?
Ans:
Total course fee of BTech in CSE at IIT Bombay is about INR 8.55 Lakhs.

Q3. What are the charges for the late payment of EMI?
Ans
: Rs 500 + taxes per cheque bounce and a penal interest @24% per annum i.e. @ 2% per month on the overdue instalment/s.

Q4. What is the margin for Education Loans?
Ans: 
There is no margin for education loans up to Rs. 4 Lakhs. For loans above Rs. 4 Lakh, the margin for studies within India is 5% and for studies overseas is 15%. 

Q5. What is the maximum amount of education loan that students can avail for education in India?
Ans:
The maximum education loan amount for higher education is Rs. 75 lakhs. The quantum of education loan depends on the case. Further, the Bank is to decide the spread over the Repo Rate. The spread may undergo a change during the tenure of the loan.
