Embibe academic specialists have designed the IPMAT Preparation Strategy for IIM Indore to equip candidates with the strategy to prepare for the upcoming IPMAT 2023 to assist them on their path to secure their admission through the IPMAT Entrance Test in the year 2023.
IPMAT Quantitative Ability Preparation Tips
Quantitative Ability is the most difficult section, and candidates will need a lot of practice to clear it. This portion is crucial to candidates’ time management as they attempt the remaining questions. Data Interpretation, Quadratic Equation, Number Series, Profit and Loss, Data Sufficiency, Simplification/Approximation, Mensuration, Percentage, Ratio and Proportion, Time and Work, Mixture problems, Quadratic equation, Pie Chart, Line Graph, Bar Graph, Probability, and so on are just a few of the important topics covered.
This section’s main goal is to assess the candidate’s numerical abilities. The mathematics problems would come from the 11th and 12th grades, and would include themes such as profit and loss, percentage, time, speed, and distance, ratios, algebra, and average, as well as a little matrix and calculus.
- The questions will be of a basic kind that may be answered quickly.
- First and foremost, solidify the understanding of each section’s conceptual information.
- Applicants should not try to learn new topics just before the exam; instead, review the basic formulas and concepts that they are already familiar with.
- To solve the problems, students need to be well-versed in maths and tricks.
IPMAT Verbal Ability Preparation Tips
The preparation tips for various concepts or chapters of quantitative aptitude and verbal ability is tabulated below:
Concept |
Preparation Tips |
Reading Comprehension |
Reading the newspaper on a daily basis will improve reading skills, and sometimes questions about social topics may be included. Candidates must not spend too much time on one particular question. Last, there are some challenging problems where candidates must find correct/incorrect words/phrases/answers from the passage. Try to crack Antonyms and Synonyms because they don’t take long to learn. |
Cloze Test |
Its possibilities may appear perplexing at first, but if aspirants understand the passage’s principle, they will be able to solve it quickly. Read the passage carefully to understand the meaning conveyed by the passage. If there is any doubt, candidates should skip the question and move on to the next one. To solve the cloze test with 100 per cent correctness, candidates must practise often. There’s a chance the new Cloze Test model will be asked in the exam. |
Sentence Correction/Sentence Improvement/Phrase Replacement |
To find the error, candidates should read the sentence carefully and remember all of the basic grammatical rules. Always double-check each option. Sometimes an option may be extremely close to the answers, which may confuse. Check the options carefully and verify the proper answer, even if the original sentence appears to be fair. While aspirants are looking for each error, remove all the alternatives containing that error. |
Spotting Error or Error Detection |
The first step in answering questions about finding errors is carefully reading the entire sentence. In most cases, the error will be discovered in one sitting. While reading the entire sentence, double-check the subject-verb agreement. If candidates still can’t find the error or aren’t sure what the correct answer is, examine each sentence component carefully to see which part has an error. |
Para Jumbles |
First, read the entire chapter carefully to determine the passage’s theme. Examine the precise sentence; it will assist in locating the lead. Find the sentences that are connected or appear to be connected to other sentences. Identify the pair while searching for a cause, an effect, an issue, and finally a solution. Finally, the passage’s message, result, and conclusion should all be found. (specific terms – thus, as a result, as a result, as a result, as a result, as a result, as a result, as a result, as a result, |
Vocabulary |
Individual words are mentioned in the question instead of synonyms/antonyms in the paragraph, and candidates must choose the choice that is most similar or has an opposite meaning to the given term. Such questions are tough, and until aspirants properly comprehend the word, there is no way they can attempt them. Candidates will need to improve their vocabulary for this. Identify new words by reading at least 3-4 articles regularly. Candiadtes should look up their definitions and try to make sentences out of them on their own. Make sure to practise it regularly. |
Idioms and Phrases |
In such questions, an idiom or phrase is supplied in the question, and options include different sentences expressing the meaning of that idiom. Candidates must determine which statement best describes the idiom’s meaning. They should be well-versed in this subject to be able to answer such inquiries. To do well on such problems, try to study 5-8 idioms daily. |
Double Fillers |
To get the idea, carefully read the text. Check out the second section to find out what the meaning is. To find the correct answers, use an odd-one-out technique. Precision is essential, so be certain when making educated judgments. |
