JEE Main Exam Pattern 2025: The National Testing Agency (NTA) releases the JEE Main 2025 exam pattern and the information bulletin. The JEE Main exam pattern pdf online will be available to download on jeemain.nta.ac.in. The JEE Main exam consists of two papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2. The JEE Main 2025 Paper 1 is conducted for B.Tech/BE, while Paper 2 is conducted for B.Arch/B.Plan. Candidates based on their choice of courses, can opt for JEE Main 2025 exam paper while registration.
The JEE Main exam 2025 includes two sections in each paper, lasting three hours. Section A includes multiple-choice questions (MCQs), while Section B features numerical value answer questions (NVQs). Candidates must attempt 5 out of 5 NVQs within Section B. Notably, Negative marking in JEE Mains applies to both sections. JEE MainLatest Updates: — NTA has released the JEE Main Application form on October 28, 2024 along with JEE Mains 2025 Syllabus and Pattern. Candidates can fill their application form till November 22, 2024. JEE Mains exam 2025 will be conducted from January 22 to January 31, 2025. — NTA has updated JEE Main 2025 Guidelines for PWD Candidates. New guideline link is given below. — NTA has notified a major change in the JEE Mains exam pattern 2025. The optional question format in Question Paper’s Section B will be revoked. That means the option to attempt any 5 out of 10 numerical questions in Section B of each subject will not be available.
JEE Main Paper Pattern 2025
A total of 90 MCQs are asked in JEE Main 2025 Question Paper PDF for BE/BTech courses. The JEE Main total marks is 300 for BE/BTech courses (Paper 1). JEE Main Paper 2 is divided into two papers, Paper 2A and 2B. Paper 2A is conducted for B.Arch which includes architectural awareness and drawing sections, while Paper 2B is conducted for B.Planning which involves planning-based questions alongside mathematics and aptitude.
JEE Main Paper for BArch will be of total 82 questions with 400 marks and 105 MCQ questions asked in JEE Main BPlan questions with total 400 marks. The drawing section of the paper 2A will be conducted offline while the rest of the paper 2 will be conducted online.
4 marks will be given to each correct multiple choice answer and 1 mark will be negative for wrong answer with no negative marking for not attempted questions of JEE Main 2025. In Paper 2 of JEE Main 2025 exam, candidates receive 4 marks for correct responses across different sections. The JEE Main question paper will be conducted online in 13 languages – Assamese, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu in addition to Hindi, English, and Gujarati.
JEE Main Exam Pattern 2025 Paper 1 (B.E/ B.Tech)
The JEE Main 2025 Paper 1 is conducted for B.E/B.Tech courses. The paper 1 of JEE Main includes questions from subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Paper 1 consists of a total of 90 questions. The JEE Main exam duration for B.E/ B.Tech Courses is 3hours.
In Paper 1, each major subject will consist of 25 questions and the three major subjects will be Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics so a total of 75 questions.

Changes Made in JEE Main Exam Pattern 2025
The NTA officials have introduced significant changes in the previous year’s JEE Mains exam patterns. They are listed as follows:
The JEE Main Paper 1 consists of 90 questions, with 30 from Physics, Chemistry, and Maths. Candidates are only allowed to attempt 75 questions (25 from each)
Each subject has 20 MCQs and 10 Numerical Value Questions (NVQ).
Only five of the ten numerical questions must be attempted, with the remaining five questions left as a choice.
There is a 1-mark deduction for every wrong response in the numerical questions.
The total marks for JEE Mains Exam Paper 1 (B.Tech) are 300, while the total marks for JEE Mains Exam Paper 2 (B.Arch/ B.Plan) are 400. The candidates can write the JEE Mains 2025 in 13 different languages. The choice to opt for a particular language in which the candidate will be attempting the exam is given when filling out the JEE Mains application form, and it cannot be changed or modified later.

This year, the NTA officials have introduced new changes in the measures with which it plans to resolve ties between candidates scoring the same marks in Paper 2. Last year, the age criteria were scraped off, and the candidates scoring the same marks were ranked following the below criteria:
Score in Mathematics, followed by
Score in the Aptitude test, followed by
Score in Drawing Test/ Planning-based questions, followed by
Candidates have a lesser ratio of negative to positive responses.
For JEE Main Paper 2 Tie-breaking criteria 2025, the NTA officials have re-introduced the age criteria to resolve ties between two candidates. The tie between two candidates obtaining the same marks in JEE Main 2025 will be resolved as per the below order:
Marks obtained by the candidates in Mathematics, followed by
Marks obtained by the candidates in the Aptitude test, followed by
Marks obtained by the candidates in Drawing Test/ Planning-based questions, followed by
