JIPMER Admission 2017 open for MD/MS courses

Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), located in Puducherry is the oldest medical school in India to teach European medicine in Asia. It is a central government funded institute that imparts both undergraduate and postgraduate medical training. It has a working hospital, as well, that is known to provide affordable medical care to its patients. JIPMER is an institute of national importance and a tertiary care referral hospital.

Recently, it has released a notification inviting eligible candidates for an admission to Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Master of Surgery (MS) programmes for the next academic session 2017.

All the candidates who are interested and eligible are requested to apply latest by October 26. As per the notification, 102 seats are available for different specializations out of which 92 are for Indian Nationals/OCI and five for sponsored candidates and foreign nationals. Of this, 71 are for MD and 31 for MS candidates.

If you fulfill their eligibility criteria, then you will be able to enroll yourself into any of their three-years postgraduate programmes that includes MD in General Medicine, Microbiology, Physiology, Pharmacology, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Pathology, Dermatology, Biochemistry, Community Medicine, Paediatrics, Anaesthesiology, TB & RD and Psychiatry and MS in General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Oto-Rhino-Laryngology and Anatomy.

Eligibility criteria:

Candidates who are interested in taking admission need to have a degree in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI).

Must have either completed, or due to complete, one year rotatory internship training on or before 31-12-2016.

Moreover, the candidate must be registered with Central / State Medical Registration Council.

Selection procedure:

Applicants will be selected on the basis of their performance in the entrance test.

Application fee:

Candidate who belong to the general category need to pay Rs 1200 and the SC/ST candidates need to pay Rs 800.

Whereas, the OPH Candidates are exempted from the application fee.

Important dates:

Applicants can download the admit cards/ hall ticket from 11 am on November 16 to 8 am on December 11

The exam will be held on December 11, 2016, from 9 am to 12 pm.
