Indian Air Force Recruitment 2025: On July 2025 (tentative), the Government of India informed the Lower House of Parliament that 5,789 vacancies are available in the Indian Air Force. Out of which, 572 posts are vacant for Officers and 5217 vacancies are for Airmen. Indian Air Force (IAF) released a notice regarding the recruitment to the post of Lower Division Clerk on May 2025 (tentative). The IAF selection process consists of three stages: a written test or adaptability test-1 & test 2, PFT, and a medical examination.

Candidates need to be between the ages of 18 to 25 years to apply for the IAF exam. Join Indian Air Force Eligibility

IAF Group C Eligibility

The officials of the Indian Air Force hire eligible candidates for various Group C Posts to recruit them in numerous stations across the country. The Group C Civilian posts are Cook, Mess Staff, House Keeping Staff, MTS, Hindi Typist, LDC, Store Keeper, Carpenter, Painter, Superintendent and Civilian Mechanical Transport Driver. Here, we have mentioned the basic eligibility criteria for each post as per the guidelines of the conducting body.

Lower Division Clerk: The candidate must have a 12th pass degree from a recognized board. Also, the typing speed should be 35 wpm (in English) or 30 wpm (in Hindi) on the computer.
Hindi Typist: The candidate must have a 12th pass degree from a recognized board. Also, the typing speed should be 35 wpm (in English) or 30 wpm (in Hindi) on the computer.
Store Keeper: The candidate must have a 12th pass degree or equivalent from a recognized university or board.
Civilian Mechanical Transport Driver (Ordinary Grade): The candidate must have a Matriculation pass degree or equivalent from a recognized board or university. Also, he/she must hold a valid Civil Driving License for light and heavy vehicles, possess professional skills in driving and knowledge of motor mechanisms and have a minimum of two years experience in driving motor vehicles.
Cook (Ordinary Grade): The candidate must have a Matriculation pass degree from a recognized board and a certificate or diploma in catering. Also, he/she must have at least one year of experience in the trade.
Painter (Skilled)/Carpenter: The candidate must have a 10th pass degree from a recognized board. Along with that, he/she must have the Industrial Training Institute Certificate in the trade from any recognised institute.
House Keeping Staff/Mess Staff/MTS: The candidate must have a 10th pass degree from a recognized board.
Supdt (Store): The candidate must have a graduate degree from any recognized university or board.

IAF Flying Branch Eligibility

CDSE (COMBINED DEFENCE SERVICES EXAMINATION) – FOR MEN ONLY

This entry is only applicable for candidates holding an Air Wing Senior Division ‘C’ Certificate of the National Cadet Corps. The details are tabulated below:

SSC (SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION ) Entry ( For Men and Women)

For SSC Entry, a candidate must apply through AFCAT. The eligibility is mentioned below:

Age Relaxation for NCC & SSC – Candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (India) is relaxed up to 26 years.

2. NDA Flying Branch Eligibility

IAF GD Technical Branch Eligibility

This recruitment is only applicable to candidates with an Engineering degree. Candidates will be a part of the Ground Duty (GD) team and will be in charge of some of the finest pieces of equipment. They must ensure that every piece of equipment is in great shape to keep the flying branch secure and running. The eligibility criteria, age limit, & nationality criteria for IAF GD are listed below:

The Indian Air Force also recruits candidates for its Non-Technical Ground duty operations to manage material & human resources. Both Graduates and Post Graduates can apply as per the post and vacancy. The Ground Duty has 5 Branches:

2. Join IAF Accounts Officer

The duties of an accounts officer involve acting as an internal auditor to ensure a zero-defect audit from outside agencies along with effective management of funds. To get selected as an accounts officer, a candidate must have:

3. Join IAF Logistics Officer

A logistics officer/manager is responsible for all the types of equipment that come and go into the Indian Air Force campus. He/She is also responsible for inventory management and procurement of Aircraft parts.

i) Graduate Degree (Minimum 3 year degree course) in any discipline from a recognised university with 60% marks or equivalent

4. Join IAF Educational Officer

As an education officer, you will be providing education to trainees on subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Chemistry, English, GK. You can be recruited at any of the defence academies.

As a Meteorology Branch Officer, you will provide assistance on weather conditions to operators. You will handle the world’s finest monitoring equipment and monitor the latest satellite imagery.

1) Post Graduation Degree in any science stream/Mathematics/Statistics/Geography/Computer Applications/Environmental Science/Applied Physics/Oceanography/Agricultural Meteorology/Ecology & Environment/Geo-physics/Environmental Biology.

2) All candidates should have scored a minimum 50% marks in aggregate in all papers of Post Graduation put together (provided Maths & Physics were studied at Graduation level with a minimum of 55% marks in both).

The admit card will be sent to the candidate through the post after he or she has successfully submitted the application form offline and met all of the Indian Air Force Eligibility Criteria. IAF Salary and Allowances

An officer at the Indian Airforce is eligible to get Flying and Technical Allowance based on the branch he is commissioned at. The Salary for Indian Air Force employees is given below:

Initially, the recruited candidates are eligible for a monthly stipend of ₹ 56,100. Candidates also get other allowances such as Transport Allowance, Children Education Allowance, HRA, etc.
