KEAM Eligibility Criteria 2023: Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) Kerala releases the KEAM eligibility criteria on its official website, i.e., cee.kerala.gov.in. Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria to apply and appear for the Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical (KEAM) entrance examination 2023. KEAM eligibility criteria 2023 consists of diverse factors, including nationality, age limit, academic conditions, domicile, KEAM qualifying marks for Engineering, and more.

The authority conducts the KEAM exam for candidates who wish to pursue UG engineering courses from Kerala’s prestigious private and government engineering colleges. KEAM 2023 Eligibility Criteria

Before filling out the KEAM application form 2023, candidates must check eligibility details. If the authority finds candidates non-eligible, they will not be allotted any seats in the participating institutes.

Nationality

The nationality criteria must adhere to the following,

  • Candidates must be Indian citizens.
  • Both Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) will also be eligible for KEAM 2023. But these candidates will have the reservation facility.

Domicile

Candidates must belong to one of the following categories:

  • Non-Keralite Category I (NK I)
  • Non-Keralite Category II (NK II)
  • Keralite

To prove the domicile, the candidates must submit the required documents.

Age Limit for KEAM 2023

The age limit criteria for the KEAM exam are as follows

  • As per KEAM 2023 eligibility criteria, the candidates must be minimum of 17 years old by December 2023.
  • There is no maximum age limit.

Educational Requirements

  • Candidates must qualify for Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala, or equivalent exam with a minimum 45% aggregate in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
  • If a candidate did not study Chemistry in 12th standard, their Computer Science marks would be considered. The authorities will also consider the marks in Biotechnology if the candidate has not studied Chemistry or Computer Science. Finally, the Biology scores will be considered if the candidate has not studied any of these three subjects.

KEAM Required Marks

The required marks are as follows:

  • Candidates should secure minimum aggregate marks of 45% in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. It is the required KEAM qualifying mark for Engineering. Candidates must keep in mind that Mathematics and Physics are compulsory subjects, whereas Chemistry is an optional subject.

KEAM Eligibility Criteria 2023: Keralite Category

The criteria for Kerala students are as follows:

  • If any candidates belong to Kerala, they are known as Keralite.
  • Children of All India Service (AIS) officers (Non-Keralites) from the Kerala cadre will also be categorised as Keralites. But these candidates or Keralite will not be eligible for Communal/ Persons /Special with Disabilities reservation or any fee concession.

KEAM 2023 Eligibility Criteria: Non-Keralite Category I (NK I)

Non-Keralite candidates who meet the criteria but do not fall into the Keralite category will be considered for admission under non-Keralite Category I.

  • Candidates who are not natives of Kerala but who finished their 8th to 12th grades there will be eligible.
  • Candidates whose parents are not Keralites and who have been sent to Kerala by the Indian government or the military after passing their qualifying exams will be eligible.
  • Candidates who have already completed their qualifying education in Kerala and whose non-Keralite parents have worked for the Kerala government for at least two years will be eligible.
  • Candidates who are not natives of Kerala but who live there and have finished at least five of the twelve years of their education there are eligible.

KEAM Eligibility Criteria 2023: Non-Keralite Category II (NK II)

The eligibility for non-Keralites is as follows:

  • On the basis of government and management quota seats, candidates from this category can be admitted to self-financing government institutions and private engineering institutions.
  • Students should be aware that individuals falling under this category will get admission if no Keralite or non-Keralite I (NK I) applicants are available.
  • Students should know that candidates in this category will not be eligible for Communal/ Special/ Persons with Disabilities reservations or fee concessions.

Candidates must note that if they belong to any of the three categories will be admitted in respect of seats reserved for the nominees of the Government of India, Lakshadweep Administration, Administration of Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Jammu and Kashmir.

For Keralite Category

The eligibility criteria are as follows:

  • Original copy of the Secondary School leaving certificate of the candidate. It must show the birthplace as Kerala.
  • Original copy of Secondary School leaving certificate of any of the candidate’s parents representing their birthplace to be the Kerala state and a corroborative certificate showing a relationship between the parent and the candidate.
  • Original copy of the passport of the candidate. The Government of India must issue it, and it should show the birthplace as Kerala, or the candidates can also show their parents’ passports. But it must show their birthplace to be Kerala, along with a supporting document showing the parent’s relationship with the child.
  • Birth certificate from a competent authority like Panchayat or Corporation or Municipality showing the candidate’s birthplace to be Kerala or birth certificate of any of the parents of the candidate along with a supporting document that shows the candidate’s relationship with the parent OR
  • Certificate from Village Officer or Tehsildar denoting the candidate or either of the parents was born in Kerala. Candidates must attach the document and the printed application form in the specified format.
  • Certificate from the authority stating that the candidate’s parent is an All India Service officer allotted to the Kerala cadre.

For Non-Keralite Category I (NK I)

Candidates have to show the following documents:

  • A certificate showing school studies in Kerala from Standards 11 to 12 from the head of the institution where the student has studied, OR
  • A certificate of residence from the Tehsildar or Village Officer stating that the candidate has been in Kerala for at least 5 years within a period of 12 years of the candidate’s birth, 
  • The employer must issue a certificate from the head of the organisation where the candidate’s parent is serving/served.
  • Students should be aware that they must submit the application form and the certificate together in the specified format. The format is available in the application form.

For Non-Keralites Category II (NK II)

Candidates belonging to non-Keralites category II must produce a certificate of completion of the qualifying examination in the prescribed format. Otherwise, they can show the passport issued by the Government of India to establish their Indian citizenship according to KEAM eligibility criteria 2023.

KEAM Application Form 2023

The candidates must complete the KEAM application form 2023 well before the last date. The KEAM application form will be available online once the official notification is out. While filling out the KEAM 2023 application form, the candidates must submit their personal, contact, and academic details. If the application form is not submitted on time before the final date, the candidates will get a chance to participate in the admission process.
