The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) conducts it to enable students to pursue research careers in Science. Students appearing for the exam should go through the KVPY entrance exam pattern & syllabus. The exam pattern will help them know the subjects, marking scheme, type of questions, and exam duration.
IISc prescribes the paper pattern for the KVPY Aptitude Test. Thus, students appearing for the test can check the KVPY paper pattern from the official website, i.e., kvpy.iisc.ac.in. 1. SA stream exam in the morning shift starts from 9:30 AM until 12:30 PM.
2. The exam duration is of 3 hours.
3. The total number of questions in the SA stream is 80.

4. KVPY Marking Scheme: In Part I, each correct answer will carry 1 mark, and 0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer. In Part II of Stream SA, for each correct response, two marks will be awarded to the candidates, and 0.5 marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer.
5. All questions are mandatory to be attempted.
6. Total marks in the KVPY SA stream are 100.

1. SX/SB Stream exam starts from 2 PM and continues till 5 PM.
2. The exam duration for the KVPY exam for SB/SX streams is 3 hours.
3. The question paper is 160 marks.
4. Part I consists of 80 questions, and Part II carries 40 questions. Students need to attempt only 80 questions in total.
5. KVPY Marks Distribution: Students must attempt any 3 sections from Part 1 (20 x 3 = 60 marks) and any 2 sections from Part 2 = (20 x 2 = 40).
6. KVPY Marking Scheme: In Part-I of the SB/SX Stream, one mark will be awarded for every correct response, and 0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect response. In Part II of Stream SB/SX, two marks will be awarded for each correct response, and 0.5 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.

75% of the scores in the aptitude exam will be weighted, and 25% will be based on the performance in the interview stage. We shall go over the Aptitude Test and Interview in further detail here:
1. KVPY Aptitude Test: The Aptitude Test is divided into Part 1 and Part 2, each of which contains four sections. Aspirants must attempt any three Part 1 sections and any other in the Part 2 section. To crack the KVPY selection procedure, students must finish their strong topics.
2. KVPY Interview Process: The KVPY Interview Process is used to evaluate your scientific knowledge to determine whether you are eligible for a scholarship. Candidates capable of conducting research are finally shortlisted after an interview process under the KVPY selection method. The final KVPY merit list will be compiled based on the results of the aptitude exam as well as the interview procedure.
3. KVPY Registration Form: You must bring a copy of the completed online KVPY Registration form. You may download the application form from the official website using your ID and password.
4. KVPY Admit Card: Don’t forget to bring your KVPY Admit Card and your application form.
5. Original Mark Sheets: Applicants must also provide all original papers pertaining to their class 10 and 12 grades. You should also bring a xerox copy of the paperwork with you. For verification, all of these papers are required.
6. Caste and Medical Certificate: You must also have a certified caste and medical certificate with you. You must also have a valid medical certificate (as per the Government of India) with you during the KVPY interview procedure.
7. Self-Appraisal Form: A self-appraisal form indicating why you deserve the KVPY scholarship will be required.
Candidates must get a Study Certificate Form from the Principal or Head of the Institution where they are enrolled in their current studies. Finally, a recommendation form from a Teacher states that the candidate has all the necessary eligibility to participate in the KVPY Interview Process.
