Before we go into the Class 9 Maths ex 6.2, students must have a clear overview of what the chapter deals with. If there is no proper introduction given to the chapter, it becomes difficult for the students to comprehend the topics fully. Hence, let us start with the table discussing the sub-topics discussed under lines and angles.
Section | Topics |
6.1 | Introduction |
6.2 | Basic Terms and Definitions |
6.3 | Intersecting Lines and Non-intersecting Lines |
6.4 | Pair of Angles |
6.5 | Parallel Lines and Transversal |
6.6 | Lines Parallel to the Same Line |
6.7 | Angle Sum Property of a Triangle |
6.8 | Summary |
When two or more points are connected, a line is produced. A line segment is generated when two endpoints are linked. The line segment begins at the point and concludes at the point. A collinear line exists when one line intersects with another. When two rays begin from the same source but travel in opposite directions, they form an angle.
The chapter Lines and Angles is covered in NCERT Solutions for Class 9 Maths Chapter 6 Lines and Angles. This article covers the fundamentals of geometry, focusing on the properties of the angles created when two lines intersect and when a line intersects two or more parallel lines at distinct points. This chapter is part of the Unit – Geometry and is part of the CBSE Class 9 Maths Term I Syllabus.
One might be wondering why are we learning about lines and angles? What are some of its practical applications? The answer is that lines and angles can be found all throughout the place. The structure of a building is designed using lines and angles in architecture.
When you come to a complete stop at a signal and then proceed when the signal light becomes green, you can either make a left or right angle turn or proceed in a straight line. Knowing the angles is necessary when determining the height of a tower or the location of an aircraft.
You will learn to tackle questions relating to the topics of Lines and Angles in NCERT Solutions for Class 9 Maths Chapter 6 as per the new CBSE syllabus for 2025. Students can download a complete PDF of the NCERT Solutions for Class 9 Maths for this chapter from the article.
Ex 6.2 class 9 maths NCERT solutions deals with finding the angles when several conditions are given. There is more to it which can be found out by the students by practicing the exercises thoroughly. Here we have provided the pdf link for the students to download.

Q.1. In the given figure, lines AB and CD intersect at O. If ∠AOC+∠BOE=70° and ∠BOD=40°, find ∠BOE and reflex ∠COE.
Q.2. In the given figure, lines XY and MN intersect at O. If POY=90° and a:b=2:3, find c.
Ans:
Given, POY=90° and a:b=2:3.
Let the common ratio between a and b be x. a=2x and b=3x. XY is a straight line, OM and OP rays stands on
it. Therefore, XOM+MOP+POY=180° (Sum of angles on straight line) a+b+POY=180
3x+2x+90°=180° 5x=90° x=18° So, a=2x=2×18°=36° and b=3x=3×18°=54°
Now, MN is a straight line. OX ray stands on it.
b+c=180°(Sum of angles on straight line)
54°+c=180° c=180°-54°=126° c=126° Therefore, the value of c is 126°.
Q.3. In the given figure, PQR=PRQ, then prove that PQS=PRT.
In the figure, it is given that ST is a straight line and PQR=PRQ.
To prove: PQS=PRT Proof: PQS and PQR are linear pair of angles. PQS+PQR=180°
PQR=180°-PQS 1 Similarly, PRT+PRQ=180° PRQ=180°-PRT 2
Given, PQR=PRQ From equations 1 and 2, we have 180°-PQS=180°-PRT PQS=PRT Hence,
proved.
