NEET Rules and Regulations 2025: NTA released the NEET 2025 dress code and rules and regulations along with the NEET notification 2025. NEET 2025 will be conducted on May 04, 2025, and the NEET admit card will be released On or before May 1, 2025, on neet.nta.nic.in. The authorities will also issue NEET an advanced intimation slip of the examination city so candidates can download it and check their exam city in advance.

Candidates were required to adhere to NEET 2025 new rules and dress code for males and females so that they did not have to face any last-minute hassle on the day of the exam. The NEET regulations 2025 include pre-exam, during the exam and post-exam guidelines. If a candidate is found indulging in any unfair or unwanted activities that might compromise the sanctity of the exam, then that candidate is barred from taking the NEET UG exam.

NEET Rules and Regulations 2025 – An Overview

NTA released NEET 2025 rules and regulations along with NEET 2025 notification on its official website–neet.nta.nic.in. NTA introduces new pre-exam, during-the-exam, and post-exam guidelines, which they have updated under this section of this article. Check the list below and strictly adhere to the NEET 2025 rules and regulations:

  • Staggered entry timings will be mentioned in the admit card and provided through SMS that all aspirants must follow to avoid crowding.
  • A transparent water bottle is permitted.
  • A hand sanitiser, up to 50 ml, is allowed.
  • Do not forget to carry your Admit Card and ID proof (Aadhar, DL, Voter Id, Passport, or any other government-issued photo ID proof).
  • Do not panic, as NTA will be taking care of all the precautions to ensure the safety of all the candidates.

Recent Changes in Dress Code for NEET Made by NTA

There have been some changes in the official NEET dress code mandated by the NTA that all aspirants will need to follow while appearing for the entrance test. If the authorities introduce any new changes in the dress code for NEET 2025, the same updated under this section. The list below focuses on the changes that were implemented by the NTA in the NEET dress code.
The dress code for the NEET (UG) 2025 exam is clearly outlined to ensure a smooth and fair examination process. Here are the key points to remember:

  1. Clothing Restrictions:
    • Heavy clothes and long sleeves, light-coloured clothes are not allowed at the exam centre. This is applicable to both Male/ Female candidates.
    • Boys are not allowed to wear Kurta Pyjamas, and Girls are not allowed to wear Sarees to the exam hall.
    • If you’re wearing cultural or customary attire, be sure to report at least an hour before the last reporting time (by 12:30 pm). This extra time will help with proper frisking and security checks.
  2. Footwear& Other:
    • Slippers or sandals with low heels are permitted.
    • Shoes are not allowed.
    • Sunglasses, Wallets and handbags must not be carried to the examination hall.
    • Heavy jewellery, watches and other wearable devices are not permitted in the exam hall.
  3. Special Circumstances:
    • If there are unavoidable circumstances, such as medical reasons, requiring a deviation from the dress code, specific approval from NTA is needed before the admit card is issued.
  4. Adherence to Instructions:
    • Strictly follow the NTA’s guidelines to help ensure the examination is conducted fairly.

Make sure to follow these rules carefully to avoid any last-minute issues.

NTA specified the dress code in the official NEET 2025 brochure. Candidates must ensure they do not carry any prohibited item in the code inside the examination centre.

NEET Dress Code For Male Candidates

  • Male candidates must adhere to the NEET dress code for 2025, which specifies that half-sleeve shirts or T-shirts are allowed while full-sleeve shirts are prohibited. The clothing worn by male candidates should be lightweight and of zip pockets, large buttons, and elaborate embroidery.
  • Male candidates are advised to wear trousers or plain pants, as kurta pyjamas are not permitted as part of the NEET dress code 2025. Shoes are not allowed in the examination hall; candidates should wear sandals or flip-flops with thin soles instead.

NEET Dress Code For Female Candidates

  • The NEET dress code 2025 for females prohibits wearing clothes with elaborate embroidery, flowers, brooches, or buttons. Full-arm-length sleeves are also not allowed, and female candidates should wear half-sleeve clothes instead.
  • Jeans with big pockets and fashionable clothing are generally not permitted, and leggings and palazzo pants are also not allowed as part of the NEET dress code for female candidates. High heels and thick-soled shoes should be avoided; candidates should wear sandals or slippers with low heels.
  • Female candidates are advised to refrain from wearing any jewellery, including earrings, nose rings, rings, pendants, necklaces, bracelets, or anklets. Metal detectors may cause delays or issues during the examination.

NEET 2025 Dress Code: List of Barred/ Banned Items

Candidates are not allowed to carry certain items inside the examination hall. They must go through compulsory frisking before entering the NEET exam centres. Here is a list of barred items posted by the NTA. Candidates can have a look at their references:

  • Stationery items such as textual material, geometry or pencil box, plastic pouch, calculator, pen, scale, pen drives, eraser, log table, Electronic pen, scanner, writing pad, bits of paper, etc.
  • Any communication device like mobile phones, Bluetooth, earphones, microphones, health bands, etc.
  • Other items like wallets, goggles, handbags, belts, caps, etc.
  • Watch, bracelet, camera, etc.
  • Any ornament or a metallic item, etc.
  • Any open food items, a packed water bottle, etc.
  • Other items can be used for unfair means by hiding communication devices like a microchip, cameras, Bluetooth devices, etc.

Points To Note: 

  1. Any applicable order of the Hon’ble Supreme Court/High Courts will be followed in this regard.
  2. No arrangement will be available at the exam centre to keep the belongings of candidates.
  3. If any candidate is found to have any of the barred items, it will be considered an unfair means, and action will be taken against the candidate.

NEET 2025 Rules and Regulations: Items to Carry in Examination Hall

NEET aspirants can check the list of items that are allowed to be carried inside the examination hall mentioned below:

  • NEET admit card 2025 with passport-size photo attached
  • Passport-size photograph
  • Postcard-size photograph attached to proforma downloaded with admit card
  • Govt. authorised photo ID proof – Aadhaar card, voter ID, driving license, passport, ration card
  • Personal small hand sanitiser (50 ml)
  • Mask on face
  • Gloves on hand
  • Transparent water bottle
  • Slippers and sandals only

It is to be noted that the centres will not provide any arrangement to keep any articles/items belonging to the students. As per NEET rules and regulations, if any candidate is found in possession of any of the barred items listed above, it will be considered as the use of unfair means. Strict actions will be taken against the candidates.

NEET Rules and Regulations 2025 for Filling NEET OMR Sheet

Candidates must follow the following rules and regulations to fill the NEET 2022 OMR Sheet:

  • OMR answer sheets must be filled with blue or black pen only.
  • The use of a pencil to mark bubbles is strictly prohibited.
  •  Do not partially fill or mark those bubbles outside the demonstrated areas.
  • Four dots are present at the corners of OMR answer sheets called ‘Index Points’. No scribbling of pen or pencil is allowed around its area. If any scribbling is found, that answer sheet will be strictly rejected and debarred for the calculation of its result.
  • Marking of multiple bubbles is allowed only for MCQs. If you mark more than one circle in a single-choice question, the answer will be considered as being wrong.
  •  Do not make any stray marks on the OMR Sheet.
  • Do not pin or staple anything with the OMR Sheet.
  • OMR sheet should not be punched or tied.
  • The OMR sheet should not be folded.

NEET Exam Day Guidelines 2025

Candidates are required to adhere to some more NEET guidelines on the day of the exam. Read the below-mentioned points to avoid the cancellation of candidature.

  • Candidates should reach the examination centre 1 hour in advance of the reporting time for smooth entry to the examination hall.
  • The necessary documents that are allowed to carry in the examination hall include NEET admit card, passport-size photographs, postcard-size photographs, authorised ID proof, and a PwD certificate (if applicable).
  • The authorities will not provide any facilities at NEET 2025 exam centres to keep candidates’ belongings like wallets, watches, keys, mobile phones, etc.
  • In case of any difficulty in understanding the question in the language opted, its English translation will be considered final.
  • If some deviation is required due to unavoidable (medical, etc.) circumstances, the candidate must seek specific approval of NTA before the Admit Cards are issued.

NEET Guidelines 2025 for Reporting Time at Test Centre

  • To ensure proper social distancing and discourage crowding at the NEET exam centre entrance, candidates will be allowed to enter the test centre at the specified staggered time slots mentioned in their admit card.
  • Candidates are advised to reach the examination centre well before the last reporting time to avoid any last-minute hassle.
  • Candidates wearing customary dress are advised to reach the examination centre latest by 12:30 (noon) to avoid any last-minute inconvenience.
