NIT Admissions 2022 – Eligibility Criteria
The admission conducting body determines the eligibility criteria for admission to NIT. The JEE Main eligibility criteria are the same for NIT Admissions for UG courses. It will be based on age and educational qualification. Check below for more information:
Eligibility Criteria for Undergraduate Courses
Candidates must be Indian Citizens. However, NRIs, PIOs, OCIs and foreign national candidates can also apply for NIT admissions.
The authorities have not set any age limit in order to get admission.
Candidates must have studied a minimum of five subjects including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational Subject, Language, and any other subject.
As the NIT exam is held twice a year, candidates can appear in both terms. They can appear for JEE Main for three years consecutively, therefore, the total attempts allowed for each candidate will be six in three years.
Candidates should have scored at least 75 per cent marks in their 12th class examination or equivalent, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class conducted by the respective boards.
Eligibility Criteria for Postgraduate Courses
The criteria for PG admission are the same as the GATE eligibility criteria. Candidates can check below the details:
Candidates must be a citizen of India. However, those from other countries can apply for GATE if they meet the given eligibility criteria.
The authorities have not set any age limit.
Also, the candidates should have completed or be in their final year of Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology (B.E./B.Tech) or Postgraduate (M.Sc) degree in any relevant science subject.

NIT Admissions 2022 – JEE Main Result
In order to get admission to NIT UG courses, candidates will have to qualify for JEE Mains entrance exam. JEE main result consists of normalized scores for all the three subjects as well as the total normalized score secured in the exam. After the declaration of the result, candidates will be assigned the All India Rank (AIR). To check the JEE main result for NIT admissions 2022, candidates will have to log in using the application number and password/date of birth. Those qualifying in the NIT exam will be eligible for counselling and seat allotment process, subject to meeting the other eligibility criteria.

NIT Admissions 2022 – Counselling
The counselling and seat allocation for admission to NIT will be conducted by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). To participate in the counselling for NIT admissions, candidates will have to apply on the official website of JoSAA to participate in the JEE Main counselling and seat allotment 2022. Initially, JoSAA will conduct two mock rounds followed by seven rounds of counselling.
The seat allotment process will be done on the basis of the choices filled by candidates during JoSAA 2022 registration.
