There will be a maximum mark of 10 for every section, and each section will have 5 questions. Moreover, candidates must remember that, unlike other competitive exams, UGC NET Paper 1 does not have any negative markings. This will give them a chance to think and articulate every question and answer each question with sheer confidence.
Also, if there are doubts about any question, candidates can leave it blank as there is no negative marking for unattempted questions. However, it is advised that they do not do any guesswork but try to solve the question by analysing it.
The Paper 1 exam has to be taken by everyone who is appearing for the UGC NET exam. They have to sit for the Paper 1 and 2 exam one after another. And in each paper, candidates must secure the cutoff that will be mentioned with the result depending on the performance of all candidates. The cutoff for NET is lower than the JRF, so if aspirants have fallen short of the JRF scholarship, they can still get into a lectureship post if they clear the NET cutoff.
