November 8, 2024The Directorate of School Education and Administration is responsible for looking after the secondary education in the affiliated schools. The State Government of Sikkim prioritises the education sector and ensures that students get a quality education. An outlay of almost 20% of the state budget is contributed toward education.
The Sikkim Board of Education follows the National Educational Policy to provide a solid foundation for young pupils. In Sikkim, the School Education System is divided into four stages. Primary Education is from Classes 1 to 5, Upper Primary (Junior High School) is from Classes 6 to 8, Secondary School is from Classes 9 to 10, and Senior Secondary School is from Classes 11 to 12.
