Nationality Criteria

Candidates can check the SSC CHSL Eligibility Criteria before filling out the application form. The following details on Nationality are mentioned below:
(a) a citizen of India, or
(b) a subject of Nepal, or
(c) a subject of Bhutan, or
(d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before January 01, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
(e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania(Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Note: The candidates belonging to (b), (c), (d) & (e) must have a Certificate of Eligibility issued by the Government of India in favour of them.

Age Limit Criteria

The minimum age of candidates should be 18 years and the maximum age 27 years (as of January 01, 2025). It means that candidates must have been born not before January 02, 1995, and not after January 01, 2004.

Note:

  • Candidates should note that the date of birth filled during the application form should match with the Secondary Examination Certificate.
  • Ex-Servicemen who have already secured employment in the civil side under Government in Group’ C’ & ‘D’ posts on a regular basis after availing of the benefits of reservation given to ex-servicemen for their re-employment are not eligible for reservation in the ESM category and fee concession.
  • The period of “Call up Service” of an Ex-Serviceman in the Armed Forces shall also be treated as service rendered in the Armed Forces for age relaxation.
  • Candidates who are sons, daughters and dependents of ex-servicemen are not eligible to apply for SSC CHSL under the ESM category.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have the required educational qualification to appear for the SSC CHSL Examination. Check out the academic qualification criteria below:

  • For the post of LDC/ JSA, PA/ SA, and DEO (except DEOs in C&AG), the candidate must have passed the Class 12 or equivalent exam from a recognized board.
  • For the post of DEO (Data Entry Operator – Grade ‘A’) in the Office of Comptroller & Auditor General of India (C&AG), candidates must have passed Class 12 or equivalent exam in the Science stream with Mathematics as a subject.

Eligibility Certificates

Candidates must submit certain certificates to confirm their eligibility. Check the important points mentioned below :

  • Candidates who wish to be considered for vacancies reserved or seek age relaxation must submit the requisite certificate from the competent authority in the prescribed format at the time of Document Verification. If failing to submit the certifications, their claim for SC/ ST/ OBC/ EWS/PwD/ ESM status will not be entertained, and their candidature will be considered under the Unreserved (UR)/ relevant category.
  • The crucial date for a claim of SC/ ST/ OBC/ EWS/ PwD/ ESM status will be the closing date for receipt of online applications.
  • A person seeking an appointment based on a reservation to OBCs must ensure the candidate possesses the caste/ community certificate.
  • Candidates are cautioned that they will be debarred from the examination conducted by the Commission in case they fraudulently claim SC/ ST/ OBC/ EWS/ PwD/ ESM status or avail of any other benefit.
