UGC NET Syllabus 2025: The University Grants Commission (UGC) prescribes the syllabus for the NET exam in its official notification. This exam has two papers consisting of multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Candidates willing to attempt this exam can check the syllabus for all 83 subjects on the official website – ugcnet.nta.nic.in, or directly from this page. UGC NET 2025 Syllabus (Revised and Updated)

The UGC NET Syllabus for Paper 1 includes Teaching Aptitude, Research Aptitude, Reading Comprehension, Communication, Reasoning (including Mathematics), Logical Reasoning, and so on. However, in Paper 2, candidates should select any subject from the list of 81 subjects. This exam tests the eligibility of candidates for ‘Assistant Professor’ and/or ‘Junior Research Fellowship’ in Indian universities and colleges.

UGC NET Paper 1 Syllabus 2025

The UGC NET Paper 1 Syllabus is intended to assess candidates’ teaching/ research aptitude. This exam is common to all applicants. To clear Paper 1, candidates are expected to possess good cognitive abilities, including comprehension, analysis, evaluation, structure of arguments, and deductive and inductive reasoning.

They are also expected to have a general awareness of teaching and learning processes in the higher education system. Further, they should be aware of the interaction between people, the environment, natural resources, and their impact on the quality of life.

Structure of institutions for higher learning and research in India, formal and distance education, professional, technical and general education, value education, governance, polity, and administration, concept, institutions and their interactions.

Note: 5 questions, each carrying 2 marks, will be set from each module. Whenever graphical or pictorial questions are asked for sighted candidates, a passage followed by an equal number of questions and weightage will be set for visually impaired candidates.

UGC NET Paper 2 Syllabus 2025

The subject that applicants selected while completing their application is included in the UGC NET Paper 2 Syllabus. The Paper 2 exam has 100 questions and awards two marks for each accurate response. The highest possible score for Paper 2 is 200.

  • Streams: Economics, Political Science, Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology, Science and Application, Electronic Science, Environmental Science, Politics, etc.
  • Indian Languages: Maithili, Bengali, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Tamil, Singhi, Bodo, Santali, etc.
