Digital Learning Through WhatsApp

Under the Mission Prerna ki e-Pathshala initiative, over 1.4 lakh teacher-to-student WhatsApp groups have been established in 90%+ schools across the state of Uttar Pradesh. These groups have an average of 15 students per group, allowing approximately 25 lakh students to connect with their teachers via WhatsApp on their parents’ smartphones. The initiative also utilizes over 1,000 existing WhatsApp groups with Basic Shiksha Adhikaris (BSAs), Block Education Officers (BEOs), and Head Teachers, as well as more than 9,000 groups with teachers to disseminate educational content. The directorate in Lucknow sends out daily messages on grades and subjects, reaching lakhs of parents in a timely manner.

DIKSHA

UP SCERT has uploaded over 4000 videos directly to students, which are a mix of content curated from expert organizations and crowdsourced from teachers. These videos are tagged to QR codes printed in textbooks prepared by UP SCERT. In addition to these videos, various other types of educational content such as explanation videos, practice questions, assessments, eTextbook PDFs, lesson plans, slides, recorded classrooms on the internet and TV, and e-books have also been made available. These videos are accessible through the department’s YouTube channel to ensure that students who do not have the Diksha app downloaded can also benefit from the content.
