CDS Vacancy 2023: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) announced 341 vacancies for CDS 1 in its official notification on December 21, 2023. For CDS 2, a total of 349 vacancies were announced. The job openings were released for the Indian Military Academy (IMA), the Indian Naval Academy (INA), the Air Force Academy (AFA), and the Officers Training Academy (OTA). The CDS 2 openings for IMA, INA, and AFA courses were released on May 17, 2023.

CDS Vacancy 2023: Important Points

Before applying for the CDS vacancy 2023, candidates should consider a few points. The following are the important points:

• Applicants must first meet the eligibility requirements and then apply for the post. His/her candidature will be dismissed if he/she fails to meet the eligibility criteria.
• Candidates must clearly indicate the services or positions for which they wish to apply in the appropriate column of the CDS Application Form.
• Any male candidate can apply for as many positions as he wants based on his educational background and age.
• Female applicants can only apply to the Officers Training Academy.
• Male candidates seeking a Short Service Commission (Army) should indicate OTA as their only option.
• Male applicants who applied for the Short Service Commission Course at OTA, as well as the Permanent Commission Courses at IMA, Indian Naval Academy, and Air Force Academy, should indicate OTA as their last preference.
• Candidates who want to attend the Air Force Academy must make AFA their first choice.
• Each of the defence academies has a number of seats set aside for candidates with NCC “C” Certificates.

CDS Salary

Qualified candidates receive a fixed stipend during training, which is the base salary in Level 10. The starting monthly CDS salary is INR 56,100. The period of training does not count as commissioned service.
