We can say without a shadow of a doubt that artificial intelligence (AI)--the ability of computers and other machines to work intelligently without human intervention--is bound to impact the world in stellar ways.

When and where this impact will be felt can’t be predicted, but one thing is certain: AI will disrupt traditional employment patterns.
That said, AI is helping kill stereotypes too. Like every other field, women in tech, too, faced the challenge of making a name for themselves in an industry full of men. But the space is now changing. Now, we have women who aren’t just holding staff positions in big technology startups but are actually spearheading them, from innovation to final execution.
Here, we’ll learn more about Indian women who are killing it in the artificial intelligence (AI) industry.
1. Aditi Avasthi, Founder and CEO, Embibe
Aditi Avasthi’s unrelenting passion for improving the state of education in India is evident from the fact that students who have used Embibe’s learning programs have gone on to achieve remarkable results in unfavourable situations.
Embibe’s pilot project was with the tribal students of Rajasthan who didn’t know how to use computers before Embibe’s intervention. The students were not only confident but also went on to crack the most competitive pre-engineering and pre-medical exams in India. Embibe, a deep personalisation platform, is designed to deliver learning and life outcomes for students. Aditi Avasthi was awarded ‘Accenture Vaahini Innovator of The Year’ at Economic Times Prime Women Leadership Awards 2019.
2. Chandralika Hazarika, Co-Founder and Managing Director, Bigthinx
An MBA graduate, Chandralika has earlier worked at ITC and Space Matrix. The marketing professional, who has about 10 years of experience, was always keen on developing simple but highly intuitive tech products that could be adopted by any and everyone. Today, her company, Big Thinx’s flagship product, the Lyflike app, lets you create your own customised clothing by controlling materials, size, lengths, style, fit, mixing and matching, and viewing them on personalised, walkabout avatars in immersive simulation. Here, a user gets to engage in immersive shopping through real-time visual searches and virtual reality too.
3. Ashwini Asokan, CEO, Mad Street Den
Ashwini Asokan’s brilliant innovation can be witnessed in her company’s flagship product Vue.ai. Vue.ai is the retail industry’s leading artificial intelligence platform that promises Intelligent Retail Automation. Using Image Recognition & Data Science, Vue.ai extracts product data from images, analyses it along with user behaviour, thereby helping different retail teams make better, faster decisions.
The platform delivers on two primary value propositions. One, automating retail processes across catalogue management, merchandising and fashion photography, significantly reducing time to market; and two, personalising the customer journey across channels through AI-enabled styling, outfitting and more. The company counts marquee retailers and brands as its customers and is rapidly becoming the preferred AI solution suite for retailers across the globe.
4. Meghna Saraogi, Founder, MirrAR
Thanks to MirrAR, shoppers can now try on jewellery on the digital platforms of client brands, including iPads installed at various locations, without actually having to wear the pieces. Shoppers also get instant fashion advice from experts, bloggers and influencers from around the world. The AR tech is seamlessly integrated with their fashion advice platform, which enables users to get real-time advice.
