Is it advisable to lift people quickly by holding their arms or legs in an accident. What aspects related to the spinal cord are to be taken care of while attending injured persons? Discuss.

During an accident, care should be taken not to lift the person with the arm or leg which might lead to injury in the spinal nerves. The hyperextension of any of the body parts should be avoided. Since the arm is attached directly to the neck which contains the atlas and axis vertebrae. If the traction of pressure is built on this region, the spinal cord and nerves arising from it might get injured leading to a condition called paralysis. Similarly, the pulling of the leg might affect the sacral region of the vertebral column affecting the nervous supply of the lower region of the body.
