A charge $q,$ mass $m$ moving with velocity $v$ enters region of magnetic field $B$ as shown in diagram. Assuming magnetic field to be constant (within corresponding region), find deviation of charge and time spent in it by the charge.

$(a)$ The particle circulates under the influence of magnetic field. As the magnetic field is uniform the charge comes out symmetrically. The angle subtended at the centre is

$δ = 180 °, t = \frac{π m}{q B}$

$(b)$ The length of the arc traced by the particle $l = R (π - 2 θ)$

Time spent in the field $t = \frac{l}{v} = \frac{R (π - 2 θ)}{v}$ and $R = \frac{m v}{B q}$

$t = π - 2 θ, (π - 2 θ) \frac{m}{q B}$

$(c)$ Time spent in the field = $\frac{l}{v} = \frac{R (π + 2 θ)}{v}, R = \frac{m v}{q B}$

$π + 2 θ, (π + 2 θ) \frac{m}{q B}$
