Indraprastha - It is the present-day region of Delhi. It was the capital of the Tomar kings which was later conquered by the Chauhan dynasty. Prithviraj III from this dynasty was defeated by Shahduddhin Muhammad Ghori.

Mahalrup - This region is located in the present-day state of West Bengal. It was under the rule of the Pala dynasty. Dharmapala was the most powerful ruler of the dynasty who founded the Vikramshila university.

Bhalkhand - It is located in the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. It was under the rule of the Rashtrakutas.

Kanauj - It is located in the present-day state of Uttar Pradesh. It was the capital of Harsha. After his death, Yashovarman emerged as a powerful ruler of Kanauj. Subsequently, the Pratihara dynasty conquered Kanauj. Mihirbhoja was an important ruler of this dynasty.

Prayag and Banaras - Both these sites are located in the present-day state of Uttar Pradesh. The present names of Prayag and Banaras are Prayagraj (Allahabad) and Varanasi respectively. These were under the rule of the Pratihara dynasty in the early medieval period.
