Sequential events occurring in the life of a cell is called the cell cycle. There are two phases of the cell cycle as interphase and M-phase. During interphase, the cell undergoes growth and prepares for the next division by forming proteins and nucleic acids. During M-phase, the cell undergoes division. Interphase alternates with the period of division.
