Observe the diagram carefully and answer the following question. In which step is the flame of the candle seen clearly? Why?

The flame can be seen clearly in the first step and this is because in the second step the device used to see the flame is bent and due to the linear propagation of light i.e., the light travels in a straight line, the flame can be seen easily in the first step as the device is straight and light can follow the straight path comfortably.
