What is the horizontal cross-section of the plane with a right circular cylinder as shown in the figure below? Will it change if the cross-section is made slightly inclined as shown below? What if the cylinder is replaced by a cone?

A cross-section of a solid is a plane figure obtained by the intersection of that solid with a plane. The cross-section of an object therefore represents an infinitesimal "slice" of a solid, and may be different depending on the orientation of the slicing plane. Thus, the horizontal cross-section of the plane of a right circular cylinder as shown in the figure below will be a circle. The horizontal cross-section of the plane of a right circular cylinder, if the cross-section is made slightly inclined as shown below will be oval-shaped. Now, the horizontal cross-section of the plane of a cone as shown in the figure below will be a circle. And, the horizontal cross-section of the plane of a cone, if the cross-section is made slightly inclined as shown below will be an ellipse.
