The water which falls on the surface of land passes through different layers of the earth is called groundwater. It is found below the water table. It is available to us through wells and it is distributed to the household through pipes. This water is purer than the waters of rivers and ponds.

The process of conversion of water into vapour and vapour again to water is called the water cycle. There are three major process involved in water cycle. They are evaporation, condensation and precipitation.
