Ribosomes are cytoplasmic organelles often found either attached to the membrane of the endoplasmic reticulum or found freely in the cytoplasm of the cell. It is the site of protein synthesis.

The green plastids present in plant cells that give a green colour to the leaves are called the chloroplasts. They contain a photosynthetic pigment called chlorophyll which helps in the synthesis of food. The food is synthesised in the leaves by the process called photosynthesis in the presence of sunlight.

In such organisms, there is a division of labour that means each cell has a different specific function to perform, and different cells coordinate with each other to support the growth and survival of multicellular organisms. Spirogyra is an example.

The cell sap is a non-living content of the vacuole and it is the fluid manufactured by the cytoplasm of the living plant cell. This fluid consists of water and various substances that are often in the form of a colloidal suspension.

The outermost layer that encloses the cytoplasm and the nucleus within, is called the cell membrane. This is present in all living organisms and it is also known as the plasma membrane. Plasma membrane regulates the entry and exit of substances from the cell.

The organisms that are made up of a single cell are called unicellular organisms. Amoeba is a unicellular organism that changes its shape constantly, which is a result of temporary extensions called pseudopodia. These extensions aid in capturing food and locomotion.
