Extinction of a species occurs when there are no more individuals of that specific species alive anywhere in the world. Extinction can occur due to various reasons like environmental forces such as habitat fragmentation, climate change, natural disaster, overexploitation by humans and pollution. Evolutionary changes like genetic inbreeding, poor reproduction and decline in population numbers are also responsible for the extinction of species. Though animals and plants can reproduce to continue the existence of their species, there can be various possible reasons for the extinction of the species.
