Stimulus defines the changes in the environmental condition, that are detected by receptors present in the body. Relevant changes in the activities of organisms to a particular stimulus are called their reactions or responses. Living organisms show their response to different kinds of stimuli such as, light, heat, cold, sound, smell, taste, touch, pressure, pain, etc .

Reflex arc is the pathway which is taken by nerve impulse to accomplish reflex action. Reflex action is the result of the coordination of the spinal cord and peripheral nervous system. This action does not involve the brain. The pathway in which impulses travel during the reflex action is called a reflex arc.
