HIV stands for human immuno deficiency virus, the causative agent for the disease AIDS (acquired immuno deficiency syndrome). This is a retrovirus with two sets of single-stranded RNA as its genome. This virus enters the host by infecting the macrophages and later T-lymphocytes, thus disturbing the immune response of the host.

Herpes simplex virus (HSV), is commonly known as herpes virus. The viral infection triggers the formation of painful sores usually appearing as one or more blisters on or around the genitals, rectum, or mouth.

Potato spindle tuber (PST) viroid is the first viroid to be identified. This viroid has a small, single-stranded circular RNA molecule without a protein coat. The viroid normally infects potatoes and tomatoes and causes diseases in them. The viroid causes adverse effects on the potato yield with stunted growth of the plant and the appearance of potato tuber.
