Consider the food chain: Grass → Deer → Lion What will happen if all the lions are removed from the above food chain?

If all the lions are removed from the food chain, the population of deer will keep on increasing. This will lead to excessive grazing of grass. The density of producers like grass will be reduced. Overgrazing may even eliminate the grass and other green plants completely and turn the green forest into a desert having no vegetation at all.
