Hibernation is a way animals conserve energy to survive adverse weather conditions or lack of food. During hibernation, an animal's body temperature, breathing, heart rate and other metabolic activities slow down significantly in order to conserve energy. Amphibians are generally cold-blooded animals. They cannot bear very cold weather. So, they undergo a long winter sleep called hibernation.

Camouflage is an adaptation that helps an organism blend in with its surroundings. Organisms use camouflage to mask their location, identity, and movement. This helps the animal to hide from its predators and prey. These animals change their skin colour to blend with their surroundings.
