Reflex action is an involuntary action in response to a stimulus that is controlled by the spinal cord together with the medulla oblongata. Some important components that altogether function to form a reflex action are receptor organs, sensory neurons, nerve centres, interneurons, motor neurons, and effectors. When we touch a hot or cold object immediately, we pull our hands away is an example of a reflex action.
