The homocyclic compounds are cyclic compounds containing only $(a)$ -atoms within the ring.

The heterocyclic compounds are cyclic compounds having other heteroatoms like $N, O, S$ along with $C$ -atoms within the ring.

The alicyclic compounds contain one or more rings having only $C$ -atoms which may be either saturated or unsaturated, but they do not have aromaticity.

The aromatic compounds are unsaturated hydrocarbon ring structure those which follows Huckel's ( $4 n + 2$ ) rule. The word aromatic is derived from the Greek word "aromatikos" which means "Sweet smell" as these compounds have specific fragrances.

Huckel's (4n+2) rule- According to this rule the molecule must have ( $4 n + 2$ ) delocalised $π$ electrons in conjugated ring system.

Here $n =$ $0, 1, 2, 3$ ..............etc.

Saturated compounds have only $σ$ bonds while in unsaturated compounds having $π$ bonds as well.

So,

Compound (a) is homocyclic and non-aromatic (alicyclic).

Compound (b) is homocyclic and aromatic.

Compound (c) is heterocyclic and non-aromatic.

Compound (d) is unsaturated.
