For the bulb to glow, the circuit should be connected in such a manner that the current flows from positive to negative terminal of the battery. But in the given circuit, the bulb will not glow because the circuit is not complete. Only the negative terminals of the battery are being connected and hence, the bulb does not glow. Thus, the bulb will glow, when both the positive and negative terminal of the battery has to be connected to the bulb.

Connect a circuit as shown in the following diagram. Draw the circuit so that the bulb glows.

The bulb will glow only when the circuit is closed and complete. An electric circuit is an arrangement which provides a path for the flow of electric current in it. To make a closed circuit we need a wire, a battery cell and bulb. Now attach the positive terminal of the battery to the bulb and the negative terminal of the same battery to the positive terminal of the second cell. Then connect the negative terminal of the second cell to the bulb. By doing so the circuit will become a closed circuit and the bulb will glow as the current continues to flow from positive to negative terminal through the conducting wire. An electric circuit is an arrangement which provides a way for the flow of electric current in it. It is a device which comprises components such as electric cells, switches, bulbs and wires. The bulb will not glow in the given scenario because both the terminals of the bulb are connected to the same terminal of the battery. Thus, the current flow does not occur although the circuit appears to be complete.
