Indian Literature

The Indian soil is enriched with a range of literary works right from the ancient period till the modern age. The oldest work of literature is the Vedas and several ancient, medieval, and modern thinkers have contributed to the field of literature.

The Ancient Literary Works

Name of literary Work Specification
Vedas These are called Shruti and Smriti. These are four in numbers namely the Rigveda, the Yajurveda, the Samveda, and the Atharvaveda.
