Motion:- A body is said to be in motion if it changes its position with respect to its surroundings with time.

Rest:- A body is said to be at rest if it does not change its position with respect to its surroundings with time.

Origin:- The fixed reference point chosen from immediate surrounding is called the origin and can be chosen according to our need.

Distance:- Distance is the actual length of the path covered by a moving body between the initial and final position.

Point Object:- Sometimes while studying the motion of an object, its dimensions are of no importance. Hence, an object is considered as a point object if during its motion in a given time, it covers distances much greater than its own size.

Displacement:- Displacement is the shortest distance covered by a moving body between the initial and final position of the object in a particular direction.

Scalar quantity:- Scalar quantities are those physical quantities which require only magnitude to describe them completely i.e., only the numerical value is required.

Vector quantity:- Those physical quantities, which require both magnitude as well as direction to describe them completely, are called vector quantities.
