The female reproductive structure of cockroaches consists of two large ovaries, oviducts, vagina, genital chamber, spermathecae, collaterial glands, and female gonopophysis. The ovaries are located laterally in the 2nd-6th segments. Each ovary is formed of a group of eight ovarian tubules or ovarioles that contain a chain of developing ova.

Oviducts of each ovary unite into a single median oviduct or vagina which opens into the genital chamber. A pair of spermatheca is present in the 6th segment that opens into the genital chamber. The female external genitalia comprises three pairs of ovipositor processes. Sixteen eggs are released by ovaries and get fertilized in the genital chamber. They are then arranged in two layers of eight each and an ootheca is secreted over them by colleterial glands. The Female then delivers this ootheca to a safe place.
