Describe the internal structure of a dicot root.

These are the following plan of arrangement of tissues from the periphery to the centre as shown in the internal section of the dicot root.
1. Epiblema- It is the outermost layer is made up of single layer of parenchymatous cells without intercellular spaces. Root hairs are always single celled. It is also called as rhizodermis or piliferous layer
2. Cortex- It is made up of oval or rounded loosely arranged parenchymatous cells. These cells also stores food reserves.
3. Endodermis- It is made up of single layer of barrel shaped parenchymatous cells. The radial and the inner tangential walls of endodermal cells are thickened with suberin and these thickenings are known as casparian strips.

4. Stele- The stele is composed of the tissues present inside endodermis.
A. Pericycle- A single layer of parenchymatous cells found inner to the endodermis is termed as pericycle. Lateral roots originate from the pericycle.
B. Vascular system- The radial arrangements are the vascular tissues. Xylem shows exarch and tetrarch condition.
5. Pith- It is usually absent.
