The human eye consists of the following parts:

Pupil, Iris, Sclera, Cornea, Retina, Ciliary muscles, Lens, Optic nerve and Blind spot.

1) Pupil: The pupil is the inner aperture which is present at the centre of an eye. It acts as a hole through which the light enters the eye.
2) Iris: It is the coloured portion of an eye and is responsible for controlling the size of the pupil.
3) Sclera: The white part of an eye filled with clear watery liquid is the sclera.

4) Cornea: The front of an eye is covered by a thin, transparent tissue called cornea.
5) Retina: The lining just behind the eyeball is the retina which consists of receptors (rods and cones). They are responsible for generating impulses that are read by the brain.
6) Ciliary muscles: The focal length of the lens of an eye is controlled by these muscles.

7) Lens: The transparent tissue present between the pupil and retina is the lens. It is responsible for focusing the light entering into the eye and thus focusing the image on the retina.
8) Optic nerve: Its function is to carry impulses to and fro from the brain thereby connecting it with the eye.
9) Blind spot: The portion where the nerve fibres enter the optic nerve on the retina does not contain any receptors. So the images that fall cannot be detected. This spot is thus termed as the blind spot.
