Two forms of motion define how things move about time and space: uniform motion and non-uniform motion.
Uniform Motion: When an object moves uniformly, it does so by traveling an equal distance in an equal period of time. When an object is moving uniformly, its speed stays constant, and neither its velocity nor its direction change. Throughout its motion, the object keeps its speed and time constant.
An object going at a constant speed on a straight, level path, as a car moving steadily at 60 km/h on a highway without changing its speed or direction, is an example of uniform motion.
Non-uniform motion: This type of motion occurs when an object travels over different distances in an equal interval of time. The speed of the item varies over time in non-uniform motion, either rising or decreasing. Throughout its motion, the object doesn't keep a constant speed.
A car moving through city traffic, which may start, stop, slow down, or speed up depending on the road, the traffic signal, or other cars. As it travels, the car experiences several situations, which affect its speed, which is an example of non-uniform motion.
