The bulb will glow only when the circuit is closed and complete. An electric circuit is an arrangement which provides a path for the flow of electric current in it. To make a closed circuit we need a wire, a battery cell and bulb. Now attach the positive terminal of the battery to the bulb and the negative terminal of the same battery to the positive terminal of the second cell. Then connect the negative terminal of the second cell to the bulb. By doing so the circuit will become a closed circuit and the bulb will glow as the current continues to flow from positive to negative terminal through the conducting wire. A cell is an important component in the circuit. The current flows only when a cell is present in any circuit. Two or more cells combine to form a battery and it also produces electricity. A switch is an electrical component that can disconnect or connect the conducting path in an electrical circuit, interrupting the electric current or diverting it from one conductor to another. It can be in ON or OFF state Conductors are the materials or substances which allow electricity to flow through them. They are also known as good conductors of electricity. For the bulb to glow in an electric circuit , conducting materials has to be used. Metal like a safety pin is an example of a conductor. Insulators are the materials or substances which resist or do not allow the current to flow through them. They are solid in nature and are poor conductors. An eraser is an example of an insulator. Bulbs use heat to glow. When electrical current passes through a wire or filament it gets heated, and the bulb starts glowing. Also, the circuit should be a closed one for the bulb to glow.
