Primary follicle: These follicles are the first class of follicles formed in mammalian ovaries and consist of an oocyte surrounded by a single layer of flattened granulosa cells.

Tertiary follicle: Tertiary follicle formation is associated with the continued proliferation of granulosa and theca cells, further increased thecal vascularization, and further oocyte enlargement.

Graafian follicle: It is a fluid-filled, fully developed structure in the ovary within which an ovum develops prior to ovulation.

Corpus luteum: It is the post-ovulatory structure formed as a result of rupture of the Graafian follicle. This is a temporary endocrine structure involved in ovulation and early pregnancy.
