Given, side of a square is $4 cm .$

Steps of Construction:

$(i)$ Draw a line segment $AB = 4 cm$

$(i i)$ At $A$ , construct $∠ BAX = 90 °$ by constructing perpendicular bisector

$(i i i)$ With $A$ as centre and radius as $4 cm$ , draw on arc which cuts $AX$ at $D .$

$(i v)$ Taking $B$ and $D$ as centres , draw arc of radius $4 cm$ , which intersects at $C$ .

$(v)$ Join $CD$ and $BC$

$(v i)$ Now we have $CD$ as base of an equilateral triangle $WDC$ .With $C$ as centre draw an arc of radius $4 cm$ above the base $CD$ .

$(v i i)$ Now with $D$ as centre draw an arc of radius $4 cm$ above the base $CD$ .

$(v i i i)$ Name the point of intersection as $W$ and join $WC, WD$ . This gives us an equilateral triangle $WCD$ on square $ABCD$ with base $CD$ .

$(i x)$ Now repeat the steps $(v i) till (v i i i)$ until we get another three equilateral triangles $XAD, YBA and ZCB$ .

Hence this is the required square $ABCD$ with four equilateral triangles.
